The Music Man (1962)

bulletInformation at Internet Movie Database
bulletThemes
bulletConversion, Grace, Love
bulletHarold Hill undergoes a conversion. He's got "The Power" to really do what he thinks he's only hyping; what he's lacking is the confidence that he can really do it and of course an ounce or two of ethical formation. And then the town starts to love him not because of the quality of his product but because it's their own kids playing the instruments. So the town undergoes some sort of conversion too. They both experience some sort of Grace. (submitted by Sterling Bjorndahl)
bulletFaith
bulletMarian's faith transforms her life and the salesman's life. The band plays by faith.
bulletHoly Spirit/Pentecost
bulletThe "rush of a mighty wind" opens the school doors and fearful, Professor Harold Hill and the pathetic River City Boys "band" receive a power (from on high?). A great crowd gathers at the sound of 76 trombones and they're marching, still, right today!  Play with this - it keeps getting better! (Interesting to note that "each one heard in their own language" - as the mother was able to identify the "voice" of her son's instrument, "That's my Barney!") (Steve Schick, Fenton, MI)
