By downloading one or more of the links below, you will have access to links to the NRSV RCL texts (at Vanderbilt Divinity School Library) and a number of articles on each weeks' lectionary texts (with more detail provided for Gospel texts). If you prefer texts only, you can download static links to either the NRSV RCL texts (at Vanderbilt Divinity School) or the NCCB/USCC's NAB texts (Roman Catholic). Instructions and ideas for downloading these pages are found toward the bottom of this page.

______

The Rev. Matthew A. Smith of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, Michigan has created files of Lutheran RCL variations compatible with the datebooks in Palm and Palm OS Handhelds. The 2007/08 YEAR A files are available at Augsburg Fortress as part of a digital version of their 'Little Red Book' in both .csv and .dba formats - still free.

Some have been using the Avant.Go service for synchronizing with the Textweek pda pages. Get your free account at their site if you don't have one, click on "create a channel," and enter one of the URLs for the pages linked below. You might try turning OFF images and using about 300K for one of these single pages of links. The more space you allow, the more essays will be available on your palm computer. Most of the essays are available on the page you're linking to, though some of them are a link away (setting 2 deep will allow you to access these). The links at this page are static links, updated on Sundays, so you can choose to synchronize with all three weeks' links (setting the depth to 2 or 3), or with one or two separate pages.

_________

Some have been having difficulty with Avant.Go, especially with the ability to view certain pages. I recently received this e-mail from Alan Kerr, a PDA user of the textweek site:

There's a freeware program called "Plucker", which can be used to retrieve any web site and re-format it for the PDA.  It's available at www.plkr.org, and you want the Plucker Desktop version.  Once you set it up, it goes out to any web page, downloads it, reformats it for the PDA and places it in your install tool for the next synch.  I'm still learning to use it somewhat (I'm not sure yet that I have it correctly configured to auto-update) but it really seems to work, and is fairly easy to set up.  Unlike AvantGo, there is no web site to register with, and all the configuration, retrieval, and parsing is done on your own desktop.

I have the following channel configured to allow me to retrieve the Vanderbilt texts via your site:

Starting Page tab:  Website URL http://www.textweek.com/PDA_RCL_texts.htm
Limits: Maximum Depth: Retrieve linked pages to a depth of 2 (gets the starting page plus the next level - i.e. the Vanderbilt pages)
Images:  Include images, Color depth 256 colors
Scheduling: Mark for update; Update interval 1 week

Under Options, Preferences, I have "Autoupdate any channel as soon as it becomes due" selected.  (I have a cable modem, so I'm always online, and it's handy to have the machine do it automatically.  You can also select to update only on request.)

All of the rest of the settings are default.

This advice from Dee Waters:

Starting Page tab: Website URL http://www.textweek.com/PDA_this_week.htm/
Limits: Maximum Depth: Retrieve linked pages to a depth of 2 (gets the
starting page plus the next level - i.e. the Vanderbilt pages)
Images: Include images, Color depth 256 colors
will give you not only the lectionary text, but almost all the other
references one level down from there -- and that's a *lot* of good reading.

Enjoy!
