After the death of Miss Daisy's cook/housekeeper, Miss Daisy and Hoke fix lunch for themselves. A very simple and touching scene shows Hoke serving Miss Daisy - who begins to eat immediately - and Hoke retreating to the kitchen where he gives silent thanks over his meal. (David Shivers)

Servanthood, Friendship

The relationship between Miss Daisy and her chauffeur develops during the film until we are not sure who is serving whom. The chauffeur has a profound influence on Miss Daisy because of the love and faithfulness he shows. Both are enriched by their relationship. (submitted by Anne Gordon)
